마땅히 주의 종은 다투지 아니하고, 모든 사람을 대하여 온유하며, 가르치기를 잘하며 참으며 거역하는 자를 온유함으로 징계할지니 (디모데 후 2:24,25)
주의 사랑하는 백성중의 어떤 사람들은 진리에 관해서 자신들의 영향력에 큰 손상을 입었는데, 다른 사람들--특히 학식 있는 사람들--에게 하느님의 계획에 관해 말할 때 너무 큰 자신감과 확신을 갖고 표현하기 때문입니다. 온유함은 어느 경우에서든지 보석과 같으며, 특히 진리들 위한 보조물과 도구로써 바람직합니다. 온힘을 다하여 진리를 선포하되, 항상 온유함과 겸손함으로써 합시다. 그리고 질문의 형태로 진리를 전하면 가장 강력하게 전달될 때가 많습니다.
