Hymns of Dawn

76.  The Saviour Comes

1
Hark, the glad sound! the Lord has come,
The Saviour promised long;
Let ev’ry heart prepare a throne,
And ev’ry voice a song.

2
He comes, the “Sun of Righteousness,”
To roll earth’s clouds away,
And make its desert wilderness
Bloom in eternal day.

3
He comes the pris’ner to release,
In Satan’s bondage held;
The gates of death before him burst,
Sin’s binding fetters yield.

4
He comes the broken heart to bind,
The wounded soul to cure,
And, with the treasures of his grace,
To enrich the humble poor.

5
Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace,
Thy welcome shall proclaim,
And heav’n’s eternal arches ring
With thy beloved name.
